Long Island Rail Road Expansion Project

The Long Island Rail Road Expansion Project is a new proposal to improve service options and reliability for hundreds of thousands of customers by adding a third track to the congested LIRR Main Line. The project will also reduce automobile traffic congestion by adding train options for travelers and eliminating street-level grade crossings, and it will improve safety and quality of life for people in the project corridor.
